Tony Forster - Marine Platforms Ltd.

Tony has been working in Hazardous environments for 43 years. Starting his career with British Coal in one of the deepest mines in Europe, working his way to Assistant Electrical Engineer. Safety has always been a core value from the start of his career to present day

Progressed from the UK mines to working on Offshore Platforms as an Electrical commissioning Engineer with a different environment and additional Risks to be considered. Moved on to working for Liebherr one of the world’s leading crane manufacturers as a Multi-Disciplined Service Engineer of Ship and Offshore cranes and was relocating around the world to trouble shoot issues with cranes in various locations around the world.

After successfully completing his goals at Liebherr and being trained in hydraulics Tony then begun his long-standing career in underwater construction. working with major companies such as Stena Offshore, Sonsub, Saipem, Coflexip, Technip and ultimately Technip FMC he quickly progressed to the role of Offshore Construction Manager.

Tony has been involved and led many successful offshore campaigns including the following: Full FPSO Installation, Mooring and Hook up on numerous fields worldwide, Flexible and Rigid Riser installations, Umbilical’s (SURF), Mooring systems and pre tensioning, Pre Commissioning and commissioning of all subsea systems, Decommissioning of Platforms and subsea assets, Heavy lifting of structures, Platform installation and Piling in very shallow water, Black Sea Pipelines Blue Stream, Remote Tie in systems, All type of ROV intervention and operations, Diver subsea support, Trenching operations around the world, Salvage operations, Rock dumping, Construction of new build deep water vessels. Projects from green seabed to First Oil and First Gas handover. Barge operations, Brown field developments.

During his time working as an Offshore Construction Manager Tony was formally recognized for his excellent safety culture and training to improve the safety performance on all Offshore vessels. Tony personally designed and led training courses onboard as part of his ongoing commitment to safety as a core value.

Tony was approached to work for his present company Marine Platforms Limited in 2018 with a new global outlook of challenges of working in West Africa and Europe and to ensure all of the projects are completed safely.

Tony was set the challenge to design, implement and monitor a robust system to ensure all of the companies vessels, both in Nigeria and Europe were able to successfully operate under strict COVID 19 protection procedures which he has managed with great success. The systems that he has implemented at Marine Platforms Limited are now being mirrored by other Offshore companies which is a testament to its effectiveness.
